So it was back to the clubs again until they holed up at Rockfield to record the first Sire album (variously titled 'Searchers', 'Silver' or 'Love's Melodies' depending on the country of release) which revealed them to be back on top of the game- and how! The performances, production values and song selections were inspired, the band sounding as crisp & fresh as a fine Spring morning. Their place in music history assured by their Pye recordings in the first half of the 1960s, the Searchers dropped off the radar for a while as they made their way round (& round & round again) the cabaret circuit, resurfacing in the early 1970s on RCA for another stab at chart success which floundered for want of decent new material. The decision-makers at Raven Records deserve ample plaudits for the this single CD re-issue of the Searchers' two superb early 1980s albums originally issued by Sire.
